3C24 Tracing

I am trying to trace curves for the 3C24 / 24G transmitting triode.  Here is the datasheet:

It has both A1 and A2 functionality.  I have not been able to trace curves in either area unfortunately, the tubes do not conduct current with the electrodes connected to the appropriate supplies.  I've used alligator clips to connect the grid / plate pins.

Wondering if anyone has a thought on why that might be?  Have attempted on multiple samples with the same result, thanks.
