Hi, I'm testing a bunch of 2A3's and noticing that the curves consistently are less extended in the current region for alternating bias voltages when bias points are `10v apart. this is not true of the supplied 2a3 data file where bias voltages are 20v apart, but when i duplicate the RCA curve data points of 10v apart I am seeing this. Does this indicate faulty tubes?

I am having difficulty understanding your question. I am guessing your are talking about where the scan stop for each curve. The condition for stopping curve tracing for each curve is roughly 1.8 times of the maximum power dissipation specified. It is just a coincidence that the curves that are multiple of -20Vs meet the stop criteria at a higher current point compares to curves for 0, -10, -30, etc.

Thanks, that answers my question. So in order to compare etracer curves with the classic curves published by the manufacturers (see attached) I would set maximum dissipation at 2X the published design maximum.

I'm looking for any differences or anomalies in comparing new manufacture tubes vs the NOS brands. so i'm try to duplicate testing conditions and visually compare characteristics...
